In her article she discusses the different ways that people become literate. She talks about how people sponsor literacy.

1) My literary sponsors were my teachers, and my parents. My teachers taught me academic things that I would need to know to further my life. My parents taught me the basic things and skills I would need in my present life and later in life.
I agree with you that teachers make good literary sponsors because they teach you valuable information that you can use later in your life.

ReplyDeleteFor your summaries, please explain why the author says what she does; what is her point? Argument? Rather than just what the article is about. Try using the template I included on the reading responses assignment sheet.
Also please remember to write a concluding paragraph reflecting on what you think about the article and its ideas and what they might mean for you and your writing.
